Big Changes, But Still Home | June In The HIVE
Share
The HIVE was originally "just a cool name of a far off dream."
It started as an idea for an athletics training facility. Think 50M pools, on-site dorms, cafes full of the finest nutrition and a track with overhanging maple trees. The whole idea was grounded on the priority of community and collaboration.
But as we sketched out blueprints and quoted fibreglass, we realized we didn't need to wait for city permits to begin building the community. In fact, we wanted athletes to be the voices guiding the development of the HIVE, not just as a place, but a purpose.
And that's, when things started getting exciting.
"If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together."
It's still a bit wild that Sav found Tenille during one random internet search, and that quickly turned into Sav choosing Tenille as her coach while she began ramping up training after her accident. Tenille took Sav from running her first few miles back, to competing in 3 Ironmans 70.3, and then attending the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Spain...in a year.
But all good love stories must come to an end, right? (Kidding, we don't believe in that!) Sav decided to switch from training with Tenille in the Triathlon to pursuing the Olympic Marathon. But for some reason, Tenille's name still kept popping into her mind making her think their work together wasn't over.
And that's, where Team Element comes into the picture.
What Tenille has created with this team is nothing short of remarkable. It's a team anyone would be proud to be apart of. A lot of coaches claim connection as a trendy keyword, but Tenille has woven it into the cultural threads that make up the very identity of Team Element.
"It's not like anywhere else. We hold hard conversations. We learn together and explore ideas. We do hard things. We celebrate success and take on failure. We laugh. We get uncomfortable and discover that we're okay."
It is home.
Which is why the transition from Sav Athletics and Team Element is being thoroughly thought through and designed, so we blaze new paths forward without abandoning the roots that brought us to where we are today.
Tenille and Sav have big ambitions.
Not to make The HIVE the biggest, but definitely the best. Because quality coaching, science-informed training and deep personal relationships are at the core of our commitment.
We recognize change can be difficult - and you're not alone in having questions and curiosities about this next chapter (heck, we've got some too!) But here's what we do know:
You belonged there. And you belong here.
You are what makes this team a team. We are carrying the same values, culture and community from one name to the next. This is still your home. We hope that with time, the new memories created within its walls will help it feel like that.
Your voice matters
We have joined forces to increase our capacity to train our athletes. There might be changes as we experiment. Some might work, and inevitably, some will fail. We trust you'll tell us if we're way off!
You're part of the vision
In a world saturated with coaches and advice-givers, we are determined to remain science-driven to deliver the best possible results to our athletes. We want to create a world-class standard and see each of you achieve your peak potential. You are our why.
As we move forward, we're excited.
Excited to show up in a greater (double!) capacity. Excited to implement new research. Excited to challenge ourselves - and each of you - to new potential.
Let's get started.
